About Mearas Stables

Mearas Stables was started in January 2009 by Sarah Sjoholm-Patience, as a training base, and as a way to offer the quality of care she had struggled to find at a reasonable price for her and her clients’ horses.

Having moved to a larger, more peaceful facility in October 2009, Mearas is now in a position to offer all the quality of care and training you would expect in a top dressage yard, in a quiet and friendly atmosphere.

Between Sarah herself, the owners onsite and a very experience head girl in Miss Toni Bates along with a small team of conscientious staff, you can be confident that your horse will receive only the best of care.

Please view our services page to learn about our packages. As we know each horse is different, we are always happy to accommodate any special requirements you may have.

About the Manager and Resident Trainer

Sarah Sjoholm-Patience is a BHS Registered Instructor, a BD Trainer and a BD Para Coach.

With a strong focus on rider position and the classical training scale, Sarah has trained both horses and riders through the levels. Having worked for and trained with masters such as Klaus Balkenhol and Leonie Bramall, she is able to offer a wealth of knowledge and experience to tackle almost any problem.

Please visit her website, www.imagedressage.com to find out more about Sarah, her training methods and what you can expect from your horse and/ or yourself if you are in training at Mearas Stables.

All horses in training at Mearas Stables are schooled or worked in hand by Sarah herself, and all exercise sessions if desired in the form of lunging or hacking will be done under her supervision.

The name Mearas is derived from J.R Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings: The mearas (singular mearh) were a breed of wild horses in the north of Middle-earth. Their lifespan is similar to Men's and their intelligence and strength are extraordinary. They surpass normal horses in that they were long-lived, wise and fleet of foot.
