FAQ

Q: Do you have any vacancies?
A: We are expecting to have a box available in April. Please contact us for more information.

Q: Am I able to bring my horse for only a short stay for lessons or to leave my horse with you for training while I am away?
A: Absolutely! As long as we have a box available, we will be happy to accommodate. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Q: Do you offer DIY, field or assisted livery?
A: We are sorry, but we do not offer any of the above types of livery, as it is too difficult to ensure that our high standards are maintained. Please view our packages and pricing on our Services page.

Q: Is my horse able to go out with other horses?
A: We would be delighted to turn your horse out with another horse, providing that we have a compatible companion and that both owners are agreeable. We are always happy to offer individual turnout, with horses turned out beside another for safety.

Q: Can I continue to use my own farrier and vet?
A: We are happy for you to use any licensed professionals on our yard, including any farriers, vets, equine massage specialist, equine physiotherapists, equine dentists, and so on, or for you to use ours. We only ask that you are registered with a veterinary practice that will provide emergency cover to the area and that all people you bring are respectful and that we are advised that they will be coming.

Q: Am I able to bring in my own trainer?
A: You are welcome to bring your trainer to watch you or for them to have lessons on your horse if you are on the yard short term, but as the yard is run as the training base for Sarah Sjoholm-Patience and show jumper Claire Marsh is also based on site, outside instruction is not available.

Q: Is there round the clock cover?
A: The yard is staffed from 07:30 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 18:00. The owners of the property are equestrians and live on the site, so your horse should be in good hands at all times.

Q: Do you have access to off-road hacking?
A: At the moment there is no direct route from the facilities to the fantastic nearby hacking, we are hoping to be able to put in such a path in the future. In the meantime, our staff will be happy to help you access the public bridleway across the road, or on the hack up to beautiful areas around Blackheath.

Q: What kind of bedding do you use?
A: We currently have all horses bedded on Nedz Beds Pro. We are happy to use other bedding for your horse as required, please contact us for more details.

Q: What hardfeed will my horse be getting?
A: At Mearas we believe that you have to feed the best to get your horse to feel his or her best. Hardfeed is fed at 07:30, 11:30 and 17:15. We feed Dengie Alfa A Lite and Dengie Hi Fi Lite and Spillers’ Horse and Pony Cubes. Spiller’s Response Sport Horse Feeds and Dodsen and Horrell mixes are also available as an livery extra. We are happy to add any supplements you provide to your horse’s feed and have regular visits from Equine Products Direct onsite. Please do not hesitate to discuss with us your horse’s individual needs.

If you do not find the answer to your question above, please contact us and we will be happy to try and answer.
